Qi Zhenhong, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Sri Lanka, held a productive meeting with Ramalingum Chandrasekar, Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic, and Ocean Resources, on 09th Thursday at the Ministry headquarters.
The meeting marked a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fisheries and ocean resources sector.
Joining the discussion were Yanwei Zhu, Minister-Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, and Dr. B.K. Kolita Kamal Jinadasa, Private Secretary to the Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic, and Ocean Resources.
Both parties emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in sustainable fisheries development and marine resource management. Ambassador Qi Zhenhong reiterated China's commitment to supporting Sri Lanka in these sectors through knowledge-sharing and technical assistance.
Minister Chandrasekar expressed his gratitude for China’s continued support and highlighted the importance of fostering a strong partnership to address challenges faced by Sri Lanka’s fisheries sector. He acknowledged the historical ties between the two nations and emphasized the role of mutual cooperation in achieving shared goals.
The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and exploring innovative solutions for sustainable development in the fisheries sector.
