A small boat belonging to a private individual from Nedunthee carrying tourists sank due to a malfunction while returning to Nedunthee. Fourteen people, including 12 passengers and 2 crew members, were rescued without loss of life.

The crew of the private boat Sabarish, a boat from Nedunthee that was passing by, noticed the distress signal being raised from the tourist boat and immediately acted to rescue the people in distress.

The Navy also worked with full force. "I express my gratitude and appreciation to them," the Minister said.
