Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Marine Resources Ramalingam Chandrasekhar has categorically announced that arrests will continue if Indian fishermen enter Sri Lankan waters illegally, boats will be confiscated, and that there is no room for compromise on this issue.
A discussion on issues related to the dragnet fishing industry was held on 30th June 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Committee Room No. 4 of the Parliament under the patronage of the Minister of Fisheries, Mr. Ramalingam Chandrasekar, and the Deputy Minister, Mr. Rathna Gamage, with the All Ceylon Dragnet Owners Association.
Another new program was implemented by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources with the objective of increasing export revenue of Sri Lanka in the Chilaw District.
