The Ministry of Fisheries announced on 23rd of December that the initial estimate of damage to the fisheries sector due to the recent floods has exceeded Rs 7,649 million.
A successful discussion was held on December 16th between Dr. Kolitha Kamal Jinadasa, Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, and a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), including its Chief Representative in Sri Lanka, Mr. Kuronuma Kenji. The meeting focused on identifying key priorities for rebuilding the fisheries sector in the post-disaster context.
