Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources Ramalingam Chandraseker has instructed officials of the Narcotics Control Division to implement awareness programs to educate fishermen on how to avoid becoming entangled in the activities of drug traffickers.

A special discussion was held at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Fisheries on 22nd of September with the aim of coordinating the fisheries activities implemented under the Ministry of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources and Provincial Councils and increasing productivity at the national level.
The “Deduru Oya Fishing Tournament 2025”, which was organized as a conservation operation, with the aim of controlling the invasive foreign fish species “Giant Snakehead” that poses a serious threat to Sri Lanka’s domestic aquatic ecosystem and fish resources, was concluded with great success on Saturday (20th September) at the Deduru Oya Reservoir.
