A group of Representatives of the Fisheries Societies that engage in Beach Seine fishing industry at Mullaitivu met the Minister of Fisheries Douglas Devananda on 2024-02-06 at the Ministry of Fisheries, and discussed the prevailing issues when engaging in Beach Seine fishing.
On 2024-02-06, a special discussion was held at the Ministry of Fisheries, to look into the ways to bring the Fishermen and the “Lorenzo Putha -4” vessel that was abducted by Somalian pirates, back to Sri Lanka.
Minister of Fisheries Douglas Devananda says that the President has allocated a large amount of money for the development of the North and to uplift the economic status of the people through the budget for the year 2024.
