Attending the event to conduct medical tests, first aid, and issuing medical reports to Fishermen held at Wellamankara on 26-01-2024, the Minister of Fisheries Douglas Devananda stated that the President has promised him to solve all the issues faced by the fishing community such as fuel issue, import of Fish and the price hike of Fishing appliances, as soon as possible.
Speaking to representatives of several Freshwater Fishermen's Associations in Kilinochchi on January 17, 2024, Mr. Douglas Devananda, Minister of Fisheries, said that he was not in politics for fun and that the government, acting on the president's orders, was doing everything it could to assist citizens during the economic downturn while taking into account the state of the nation.
