The Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, Mr. Ramalingam Chandrasekhar stated, “On behalf of the Ministry of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the successful organization of the Aqua Planet Sri Lanka - 2025, International Exhibition organized on the occasion of World Fisheries Day.
The initial phase of the blue economy programme for which the 2026 budget has allocated Rs.100 million will commence in the first half of next year, Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources Ministry Secretary Dr. B. K. Kolitha Kamal Jinadasa said.
Additional attention has been given in the 2026 budget to developing the fishing industry, Deputy Minister of Fisheries Rathna Gamage said. He emphasized that the government’s programmes to advance the sector will be implemented effectively as planned.
