In the face of the flood disaster situation spreading across the country, the Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, Hon. Rathna Gamage, instructed the relevant sectors to deploy fishing boats immediately for rescue operations of civilians.

The operation of rescuing five fishermen who went missing off at the Rathgama coast in Galle was successful, Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, Hon. Rathna Gamage, confirmed on 28th of November.

Due to the severe low-pressure area that has developed in the sea area around the island, the Ministry of Fisheries strictly warns the entire fishing community to refrain completely from going to sea for fishing until further notice.
