With the objective of actively contributing to the development process of the country, a progress review meeting of the National Aquaculture Development Authority (NAQDA) was held on 16th of September at the Authority premises under the patronage of Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, Rathna Gamage.

Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, Ramalingam Chandrasekar, announced at a special media briefing held on 15th of September that steps will be taken to ban the import, possession, breeding and sale of four invasive foreign fish species that pose a serious threat to the country's local aquatic ecosystem and indigenous fish resources.

Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, Hon. Rathna Gamage, went on an observation tour at the Peliyagoda Central Fish Market Complex, which is the main centre for fish distribution in the country, today (12) to look into the longstanding issues faced by wholesale and retail traders, and held a special discussion with the trading community.
