Speaking in Parliament today, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that several sectors in the country have been severely impacted by the ongoing global conflict, emphasizing that it is the government’s responsibility to identify these affected sectors and provide necessary relief.

A special discussion was held between the Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, Mr. Ramalingam Chandrasekhar, and His Excellency the President regarding the serious problems faced by the fishing sector in this country, in view of the increase in fuel prices in the world market and the crisis situation regarding fuel supply due to the military unrest in the Middle East region.

Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources Ratna Gamage represented the Sri Lankan government at the "China-Sri Lanka Academic Forum on Tropical Marine Environmental Changes" held at the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology (SCSIO) in Guangzhou, China, recently (March 24).
