The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), together with the Ministry of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources and the National Aquaculture Development Authority (NAQDA), officially launched the Shrimp Industry Information System (SIIS) under the leadership of the Minister of Fisheries, Hon. Ramalingam Chandrasekar.

A World Bank team and experts from Wageningen University, Netherlands, held a key discussion with the Minister of Fisheries on the development of cold chain (frozen and deep-frozen fish products) in Sri Lankan fisheries sector.

The 20th District Fisheries Coordination Committee meeting, aimed at resolving the issues faced by freshwater and ornamental fish industry owners in Matale District, was held on 04.11.2025 at the Matale District Secretariat under the patronage of Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, Rathna Gamage.
