Nearly 5 months ago “Lorenzo Putha” a multiday fishing vessel that sailed from the Chilaw Sea area to the Arabian Sea was captured by Somalian pirates and later on it was rescued by Seychelles Coast Guards.
For the first in Sri Lanka, SLIC, a local canned fish company with SLS certification produced and issued its latest product, a pack of sustainable Jack Mackerel fish to the market. The launching of this product was held on 2024-06-21, at the Ministry of Fisheries.
Mr. Nishantha Mohan Wickremasinghe assumed duties as the new Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries.
After the retirement of former secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries Miss. Nayana Kumari Somarathne, Mr. Nishantha Mohan Wickremasinghe assumed duties as the new Secretary on 19-06-2024 at the Ministry of Fisheries.
