The Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, Mr. Ramalingam Chandrasekar, expressed his views at the media briefing held at the Government Information Department on 25th of September, 2025 to inform the public about the implementation of the activities of the President's Fund.

With the aim of conserving marine resources of Sri Lanka and securing international fish export markets, a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and 11 other key government institutes to curb illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing on 22.09.2025 at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Fisheries.
Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources Ramalingam Chandraseker has instructed officials of the Narcotics Control Division to implement awareness programs to educate fishermen on how to avoid becoming entangled in the activities of drug traffickers.
